Overview

A true, sealed head is where performance starts

The cylinder head manages combustion sealing, valve sealing and gas flow. A warped deck, worn valve guides, or pitted seats cost compression and performance even in an otherwise fresh engine.

Head reconditioning restores the casting and its valve train interfaces: cleaned and crack-tested, the deck is surfaced true, guides and seats are reconditioned, and the head is made ready for reassembly with new sealing surfaces.

How we carry out the work

  1. 01

    Receive & strip

    Valve train, plugs and fittings are removed and the head is prepared for cleaning.

  2. 02

    Clean & pressure test

    The head is cleaned, inspected and tested for cracks and coolant-tightness.

  3. 03

    Measure

    Deck flatness, guide wear and seat condition are measured.

  4. 04

    Recondition

    Guides and seats are reconditioned and the deck is surfaced true.

  5. 05

    Final check

    Sealing surfaces and valve seats are verified before return.

Can a warped head be saved by machining?

If the casting is within its serviceable limits after surfacing, machining restores flatness. If removing the distortion would take the deck below minimum thickness, replacement is the safe answer.

Do you supply the head fully assembled?

Head assembly can be included where the customer supplies valves and related hardware. Guide, seat and surfacing decisions are confirmed during inspection.

Why is a pressure test important?

It verifies the casting is coolant-tight after machining — so a reconditioned head does not fail on first warm-up from an undetected crack or porous area.
