Reconditioned Engines
Engines reconditioned to specification — not off a shelf
How it works
From enquiry to a verified handover
- 01
Enquire
Tell us the engine and what it needs to do. Details are confirmed from the actual unit, its condition and its specification.
- 02
Inspect & measure
The engine or component is assessed — stripped, cleaned, inspected and measured — so the reconditioning scope is decided on facts.
- 03
Recondition
Machining, replacement of unfit components and assembly follow the PRT reconditioning process in the correct sequence.
- 04
Verify & hand over
The finished unit is checked and documented before it is protected and handed over for fitment.
Your engine, or a build to order
We do not keep a speculative shelf of engines
A PRT reconditioned engine is the outcome of a process, not a product pulled off a warehouse shelf. That is why availability is confirmed from the job rather than from a stock list.
Supply your engine for reconditioning
Your own unit goes through the PRT process — you keep your engine's identity and history, rebuilt to specification.
Order a unit built to your requirement
Where a replacement is needed, the specification is agreed first and the build is confirmed from the components that go into it.
Inside the build
The work behind a reconditioned engine
A reconditioned engine is assembled from components that have each been inspected, measured and machined. These are the services inside the build.
Cylinder Block Reconditioning
Strip, inspect, measure and machine the engine's foundation. We recondition cylinder blocks for rebuilds — cleaning, crack detection, boring and honing, deck surfacing and, where needed, line boring of the main bearing housings.
View serviceCylinder Head Reconditioning
Restore sealing, gas flow and valve operation. We recondition cylinder heads for rebuilds — strip, clean, crack inspection, pressure testing, valve and seat work, and precision surfacing.
View serviceCrankshaft Grinding
Restore worn journals to size and true running geometry. Crankshaft grinding returns main and crankpin journals to specification for use with matching undersize bearings.
View serviceConnecting Rod Reconditioning
Restore rod bores, alignment and fastener condition. We check, measure and recondition connecting rods so each rod is straight, correctly sized and ready for the rebuilt assembly.
View serviceEngine Boring & Honing
Cut and finish cylinders to exact size with the correct surface finish. Boring removes the wear and taper; honing produces the plateau finish new rings need to seat.
View serviceLine Boring
Restore alignment of bearing housings in one continuous set-up. Line boring re-machines main bearing bores so every saddle shares one true axis with the crankshaft.
